Real Money Monopoly Rules

Ahh yes its been the dream of man since the beginning of time! you can play monopoly for real cash! Here are the rules:

All players agree on a certain stake to play the game for, this stake will be the absolute maximum each player can lose, I recommend a stake of about £10 to start with.

The game can then commence as usual but you start a timer for 90 minutes once the first roll has taken place.

The game continues as normal until that timer reaches 0. At this point each player takes 3 more turns and then the game ends. The mandatory last few turns are to prevent people taking ages rolling when they are likely to lose money.

Each player then counts up the market value of each property (and may pay the usual 10% to re-buy mortgaged properties) and also the full value of houses and hotels, once this has been done each player can then count up their entire net worth.

So now you'll be left with something like

Dave: £970
Mike: £3690
Ben: £5005

Obviously if a player has gone bust in the game then they receive no cash prize.

Now here's the fun part, with these values you can split the pot accordingly, 3 players @ £10 each = £30 pot.

Total game money = 970+3690+5005 = 9665

£30/9665 = A

Dave wins 970A = £3.01
Mike wins 3690A = £11.45
Ben wins 5005A = £15.54

Before you start the real money monopoly game make sure you all agree on the rules of monopoly! The variance between how people play this game can be pretty substantial so make sure you know what's going on.

Special thanks to my bru Jordan, Tim, and all the staff at Bellevue for the great atmosphere- Joey
